MOREHEAD, Ky. (LEX 18) — The autopsy of Jill Clayton, who was found dead Friday evening in Morehead, has revealed that she died by a single gunshot wound.
Detective Donny Hall with the Rowan County Sheriff's Office confirmed the news to LEX 18.
Clayton's boyfriend, Gary Jeffries, has been charged with murder, abuse of a corpse, and evidence tampering.

Jeffries was in possession of a handgun at the time of his arrest on an unrelated charge.
Investigators are still waiting on the results of the ballistic report.
Arraignments on both cases will likely happen this week.
Jill Clayton's body was found after she went missing for about two weeks. Volunteer searchers found her body at an area near Wolf Hollow Road after approximately 40 community members gathered on Friday to help on the search.
