WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Two four-door sedans collided head-on early Saturday morning on HWY 150 on the edge of Washington County killing one of the male drivers.

The second driver, Mercer County Varsity Girls' Soccer Coach Josh Culver, was trapped in his car and later helicoptered to a local hospital.

Mercer County Schools Athletic Director Donald Smith told LEX 18 Culver was on his way to a game for his team in Montgomery County when the crash happened.

According to Springfield\Washington County Rescue Commander Joe Carpenter, the accident happened around 6:30 a.m. about 11.5 miles from Springfield and about 800 feet from the Boyle County line.

As of 11:15 a.m., Carpenter said HWY 150 was still blocked in both directions and expected to be closed for another 30 minutes. He said Kentucky State Police were reconstructing the scene and directing all traffic on a detour.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office, Washington County Fire Department and Washington County EMS also responded to the scene.
