Not much in the way of change today as the persistent, but monotonous summer pattern continues. Temperatures are starting in the upper 60s this morning and afternoon highs will rise into the upper 80s/low 90s. We’re starting with less fog than yesterday morning, but there will still be some around, so use caution.
A few isolated pop-ups are all we can hope for to cool us off in this relentless summer heat pattern we find ourselves in. We’ll rise to near or at 90 degrees this afternoon thanks to the persistent heat ridge in place. A few isolated pop-ups are possible from the heat of the day, but the best chance for that is near the Tennessee state line. As we wade further into the week a cold front nears and will begin to change out the pattern. As the front moves in, rain and thunderstorms will be scattered and mostly garden variety. Still, heavy rain is possible. Temperatures will cool behind the front to below normal values. You can expect a reduction in humidity levels as well.
