Citation: Man burned down mother's home during argument

NICHOLAS COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Carlisle man is facing charges related to a fire that killed four cats and two dogs.

According to the arrest citation, the home owner told the officer that on Thursday, July 25, her son Jody Sapp burned down her home. She said that there were four cats and two dogs in the home that died in the fire.

A witness said that she saw Sapp pouring gas through the home.

Sapp told officers that he had an argument with his mother and he "blacked out," according to the citation. He also said that he started feeling hot and he ran outside to get water. When he couldn't put out the fire, he "ran off up the railroad tracks," according to the citation.

Sapp was arrested on July 26. He is facing charges of arson first degree and cruelty to animals second degree. He was put in the Bourbon County Detention Center.
