WINCHESTER, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Clark County Animal Shelter is asking for help after a dog was found locked in a cage on the side of Ruckerville Road. A passerby found the dog and called for help.

When officers arrived they found the dog suffering from what appeared to be an ongoing skin condition and possibly parvovirus. The dog was unable to stand on its own and was transported to a veterinarian.

There is currently an investigation to find the identity of the person who left the animal. They believed the dog was dumped sometime between 6:30 a.m. and 7 a.m.

"If you have any information that may help us locate the person responsible for this please contact us immediately.
