SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Scott County woman is hoping for a kidney for Christmas.

“I do believe I will get a miracle, I just don’t know when that’ll happen. I try to be so patient,” said Danyelle Duncan.

For 10 years, she battled kidney disease and for the past year she’s been on dialysis.

“That’s what’s keeping me alive right now, is going to dialysis. I’m not going to say it’s a great quality of life, but it’s life,” said Duncan.

Duncan is a 47-year-old mother of two. She has been forced to give up her career as a nurse and move back in with her mom. She said she can’t begin to count the number of hospitalizations and ambulance rides. Now, she says she’s getting desperate and she needs a kidney.

She has turned to Facebook, loved ones and strangers, in hopes that her story will reach the one person who can provide her with this gift.

“I want to look forward to being a grandma and I want to look forward to spending more time with my kids. I’m an only child, so I want to be here for my mom and dad,” she said.

She fears that this Christmas could be her last, but she sends her days holding onto hope.

“I love life and I want to still be here for this life,” said Duncan.
