Making A Difference: Fazoli’s Steps In With Fundraiser For Sick Teenager

(LEX 18) — Fazoli’s and the Lexington Dream Factory are partnering to help make a Lexington teenager’s dreams come true.

Shelby Thorn was diagnosed with colon cancer during her senior year of high school. The teen dreams of visiting Hawaii. To help her get there, a portion of Wednesday’s sales at the Italian eatery will go toward her trip.

Vivian Moore wasn’t planning on eating lunch at Fazoli’s, but when she heard that 10% of today’s sales at any Lexington location would be donated to granting a wish for a sick teenager, she quickly changed her place.

“It’s a great thing I think,” Moore told LEX 18.

Moore wasn’t the only one who’s been touched by Shelby’s story. The recent Lafayette High school graduate has been battling colon cancer and when Lexington’s non-profit group The Dream Factory heard Shelby’s story, they decided to team up with Fazoli’s to make the dream a reality.

“That’s what our dreams are all about, forget about the sickness just enjoy the vacation, put smiles on your faces, and enjoy this vacation for the rest of your life,” Ralph Coldiron told LEX 18.

The chain expected to earn thousands of dollars Wednesday.
