WOODFORD COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18) — The Book Nook in Versailles is the perfect place for a chilly day.

"You come here, you get a cup of coffee, you can sit and browse, we don't care how long you stay, " said manager, Lori Nation.

Perched atop Journey Provisions, the Book Nook is a hang-out where all are welcome.

Nation said, "It is truly open to everyone, and the more people who shop here the more we can do for the community."

The shop is jam-packed with books spanning all genres, and all of the books are donated.

"We have everything imaginable. Recently we've just gotten a lot of older books, too, that we're trying to get out on the shelves, " said volunteer Pam Shouse.

Run by volunteers, there is always someone there to guide customers or just leave them be. There is WiFi and a play area for kids to get out some of that energy stored up on a rainy day.

"They're so helpful! If I say what author I'm looking for or what subject they help me, " said customer Julie Tuttle.

The coffee is free and books are priced incredibly low. Hardback books are $1.00 and paperbacks are $.50, and just like at Journey Provisions every cent of their profit goes right back to organizations in the community.

"That's another reason why I shop here because I know my money is not just gonna stop here, it's gonna be able to help someone, and that's what it's all about, " said Tuttle.

It is their hope the shop is full of people with books in their hands and the desire to give back in their hearts.

"We're a Woodford County ministry, but this extends to anybody, " said Nation.

The Book Nook also has free supplies for teachers and home-schoolers. The shop is open Tuesday-Saturday 10am-2pm.

The Book Nook is located above Journey Provisions at 560 Field Court in Versailles.
