LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Corbin woman is facing child abuse charges after police said they found her 11-year-old grandson walking alone overnight miles from home on a busy roadway.

Authorities said 57-year-old Patricia A. Rose was arrested Wednesday after an investigation.

The Laurel County Sheriff's Department said its deputies and police in London were called out Wednesday morning to a business off South Laurel Road to check the welfare of the juvenile, who was found alone.

Police said investigators determined that the boy had gotten into an argument with Rose and "the boy was told to leave the residence" at about 1:30 a.m.

Officials said the boy walked nearly eight miles north on busy U.S. Highway 25 into London.

Police said they also determined that Rose "apparently made no attempt to locate him and no attempt to contact 911."

Rose was charged with first-degree criminal abuse of child 12 or younger and forth-degree assault.

She was being held in the Laurel County Detention Center.
