LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington police are looking for an armed robber who hit a convenience store recently and threatened the life of an employee.
Detectives believe what the man was wearing on his feet may actually help identify him.
Lexington police say the man walked into the Foodmax on Winburn Drive two weeks ago when he pointed a gun at the clerk. The man is wearing a mask but is also wearing very distinctive sneakers. The man left empty handed after the employee told him there was nothing in the register.
"This suspect who goes in here, has no idea who's walking around with a gun and who could potentially pull that on him at some point. So, when you walk in you're a threat to not just the clerk, but everybody in that store because you're there to commit a robbery, and people know that especially when you have a mask over your face, and they could potentially use deadly force against him," Det. Mark Thomas tells LEX 18.
They assume the man must live nearby and probably fled on foot. If you recognize someone in the area with those shoes, you can contact Bluegrass Crime Stoppers at 859-253-2020. Your information could earn you a cash reward.
