LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington Police are looking for a purse snatcher who they say went on a 48 hour shopping spree before anyone realized what was going on.

Police say that the woman stole a purse from a shopper at the Fayette Mall JC Penney before going shopping at 11 other locations around Lexington. The woman and her car were caught on camera at many of the places where she used the stolen credit cards to ring up charges totaling more than $2,000.

"I don't understand how they don't realize that they're on camera, every single time they're on camera making these transactions. You should know, it's common sense that everywhere has cameras now. This woman doing this the way she did, habitually the way she did shows us she has a problem with them. She's obviously probably done this before," said Detective Mark Thomas with the Lexington Police Department.

Thomas said that the person of interest was able to operate for two days before the victim was notified about possible fraudulent charges. He says that if you ever misplace your wallet, make sure to call your bank and credit card companies the minute you realize it is gone.
