LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington police are looking for two people of interest in a theft at Sam's Club, which left the store with a five-figure loss.
Surveillance video shows two people pulling off the massive heist. The two men walk into the store carrying folding chairs. They hide in the store and make sure to go undetected at closing time. As soon as the store closes, the two whip out bolt cutters to gain easy access to the electronic department after-hours.
Once the lock was cut, they begin to stuff iPads and other electronic devices into their bags.
The suspects got away with roughly $20,000 in merchandise.
"This is going to be a heightened class felony situation. And again, out there these iPads are floating around and I promise you of all the iPads that have been stolen, we will start to recover these, we will start developing a pattern and tracking these guys back," Det. Mark Thomas told LEX 18.
If you recently acquired an iPad and the price seemed too good to be true...contact Lexington police.
