LEXINGTON, ky. (LEX 18) - — A former Scott County sheriff’s deputy accused of shoplifting is expected to appear in court Monday.

Silas Whitehead was charged with theft after officials said he took more than $600 worth of items from the north Lexington Walmart store in a series of thefts.

Whitehead had worked in security at the store, and police say the alleged thefts took place between February and May.

He is no longer employed by the Sheriff’s Department.

Whitehead is expected to appear in Fayette County District Court on Monday morning for a preliminary hearing.
