Fall is coming

Cooler temperatures are on the way.

Fall is coming tonight! A cold front is heading our way that will dramatically cool things off. After another record-setting day with highs well into the 90s, temperatures will drop into the 50s overnight. Tomorrow will be a perfect fall day with sunshine and highs in the low to mid 70s. This front will go by otherwise un-noticed. A few more clouds have developed late in the day, but there won't be any rain as the boundary crosses the Bluegrass. You would think with this dramatic of a temperature drop that this front would mean business. Not the case.

There will be a much better chance for rain with another strong cold front late this weekend. Widespread rain will arrive during the second of half of Sunday and continue into Monday morning, then showers will gradually diminish. Rainfall amounts look to be between a half inch and two inches over that two day period. That won't be enough to quench the drought, which continues to expand and worsen. But we'll take whatever rain we can get. We need over three inches of rain to make up for our five and a half week long dry spell.
