Former Sayre basketball coach accused of molesting juvenile in Louisiana

A former Sayre School Basketball Coach was arrested in Lexington on out-of-state charges that he molested a juvenile while he was employed at a Louisiana private school.

According to KSLA, Steven Weir, 62, is charged with 25 counts of molestation of a juvenile and 60 counts of prohibited sexual contact between an educator and a student. Additional charges of extortion, computer aided solicitation or a minor and cyberstalking.

Court documents show that the crimes allegedly took place from 2006 until 2012, when the victim graduated high school.

Weir was in Lexington visiting relatives and was taken into custody on July 25. He has since been extradited and jailed in Louisiana.
