CASEY COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Four teens have been charged with burglary and criminal mischief, after allegedly causing thousands of dollars worth of damage to an old school.

The Casey County Sheriff's Office discovered the vandalism on Thursday.

Deputies had been called to check the old Douglas Elementary School to make sure was vacant, so it could be shown by real estate agents.

When deputies arrived, they spotted two people on the roof, who jumped down and ran into the school.

Inside, the officers discovered graffiti, broken windows, damaged walls and other destruction.

The damage was estimated to be between $25,000 to $30,000.

Three 17-year-olds and one 15-year-old were found inside the building and arrested. They were later released into their parents' custody.
