Gloomy start to the week

Chilly too.

We are entering a stretch of cloudy and chilly days that will run through the end of January. After some breaks of afternoon sunshine, clouds have filled back in. Spotty cold rain showers will develop tonight across southern Kentucky. Patchy drizzle and stray flurries will be possible near the I-64 corridor. The drizzle and light rain will exit through mid-day, then we'll be left with a cloudy and chilly Monday afternoon.

Clouds will hang tough through late week. Temperatures, therefore, won't get much help. It will feel like late January should with highs near 40° as we wrap up the month. The pattern looks to become more "energetic" later in the week as a strong low develops across the southern US. A storm system has the potential to run up the eastern seaboard. The track has been waffling over the past few days. Where this storm ends up will determine what we see. It could be just rain or a rain/snow mix. We'll be watching the set up closely this week.
