A very spring-like winter storm will top the weekend weather headlines. When you consider the size, scope, and wide-ranging impact of this potent system, we've been dealt a decent hand. The widespread threat for heavy rain, severe storms, and winter weather will bypass us here in the Commonwealth. Don't get us wrong, Saturday will still be a busy weather day.
This is a very spring-like set up as a strong low zips out of the Deep South through the Ohio Valley. This will also be a wind-driven event. Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph will be possible even outside of any storms. We are keeping an eye on the potential for a few strong storms Saturday afternoon and evening as a line of gusty showers and storms blows through. Overall storms will be weakening as they enter central Kentucky. The best chance for a few strong, even severe, storms will be across southern counties with damaging winds as the top threat. Storms and rain will diminish through the overnight hours.
