LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The heat keeps Fayette Heating and Air busy this time of year. Technicians say they answer around 100-350 phone calls a day.
The technicians go to homes and companies to make sure that the people inside are staying cool.
Comfort Adviser Jeff Coats with Fayette Heating & Air have tips so you can get the most out of your A/C system.
"Check your filter regularly and change it when needed. The air flow is a must when it comes to making sure you equipment runs properly. Keep your blinds closed. That sunlight beating down on those windows can obviously bring on a lot of heat," said Coats.
Let's say something goes wrong with your unit... Coats said to first check your air filter and observe the air flow. If it's not flowing properly, you may need professional help.
Another reason to call a professional is if you see ice built up on your unit.
"Obviously, that's not normal. You need to make sure that you shut the system off and then call service," said Coats.
Another tip is to keep your air ducts clean from dust and debris to help with the air flow.
Coats also suggests using ceiling fans also help by circulating air in your home and helping with humidity.
