Some areas have received over a month's worth of rain over the past three days. The pattern doesn't look to change over the next couple of days. The stubborn cut-off low will wobble towards the Kentucky-Tennessee border tonight. This set-up will keep our temperatures cooler than normal, our skies cloudy, and scattered showers and storms will continue to spiral through the area through the end of the week. There is some good news - the axis of heaviest will shift farther east. There still could be occasional bursts of heavy rain, but these won't be downpours that come one right after the other over the same location. The Flash Flood Watch for far eastern Kentucky is set to expire Thursday morning. Flooding warnings remain place. Additional heavy rainfall may lead to quick water rises in already vulnerable areas.

The pattern will finally break heading into the holiday weekend. The upper-level low will move on to the northeast and a ridge will take over. A more summery set-up will take shape with highs in the 80s and chances for scattered afternoon storms.
