LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Hundreds of families across the Commonwealth were treated to an early Christmas gift at Southland Christian Church in Lexington.

The annual Help-Portrait initiative was held at the church on Saturday.

Help-Portrait, a global movement founded by a celebrity photographer, is driven by photographers, hairstylists, and makeup artists, who use their skills and expertise to give back to those in need.

Andrew Fore, the director of the Lexington chapter of Help-Portrait, said the vast majority of the families they serve face financial difficulties, and may not be able to afford professional photographs.

"Yes, they get the photo and that memory is captured, and it is etched in time," Fore said. "But what we’re doing for our guests on the inside is what really matters and what is going to last."

For some of the families in attendance, the pictures taken on Saturday mark a new chapter in their lives.
