BRECKINRIDGE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Kentucky State Police have asked for the public's help in speaking with the driver of a late model Dodge Durango with a Florida license plate.

The driver was on 12798 South Highway 259 in Breckinridge County on July 13. KSP investigators said they believe that the driver and any possible passengers may have witnessed Bradley Mattingly, 35, strike an 8-year-old boy and they want to speak with them about the incident.

KSP troopers responded to a hit and run collision that resulted in the death of an 8-year-old boy after receiving a call about the incident.

The investigation revealed that a 2009 Pontiac Torrent was traveling north on KY 259 South and struck a boy that was getting mail from a mailbox.

The driver left the scene and was located by Trooper Brandon Brooks. Brooks found the vehicle going south on KY 737.

The driver was identified as Mattingly and was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and reckless homicide.

The Breckinridge County Coroner's Office pronounced the child dead at the scene.

Mattingly was taken to the Breckinridge County Detention Center.

Police ask that if you have any information regarding the hit and run or the driver of the Dodge Durango, call KSP Post 4 at (270) 766-5078.
