LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Deputies in Laurel County arrested two people on abuse charges, after they say they found a two year-old boy playing in a floor covered with dog feces.
The child's father, 30 year-old Joey Ridener, and aunt, 35 year-old Tammy Hammons were arrested and each charged with first-degree abuse.
Deputies were conducting a welfare check on Friday morning. Police say they found dog feces throughout the home and dirty dishes, and trash, piled up on the floors and counters.
Deputies say the little boy's feet were caked in dog feces and he was playing with a bottle of bleach, and that no one inside could remember the last time the child was bathed.
The two suspects face between 5-10 years in prison if convicted.
