RUSSELL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — One Kentucky family tells LEX 18 that their cruise was called off because of Hurricane Dorian.
Russell County resident Marci Miller said that her family has always booked cruises during hurricane season and they've never had a problem, until now. Miller and her family booked the cruise months ago.
As Hurricane Dorian approaches the Florida coast, Miller and her family had been waiting to hear from Carnival Cruise Lines. They were supposed to leave from Port Canaveral, Florida on Monday.
Miller said some of her relatives even had their flights cancelled before hearing back from Carnival.
Before Carnival announced their decision, Miller told LEX 18's Claire Kopsky, "If Carnival cancels the trip, more than likely they will give us that credit back on another cruise comparable. If we cancel, we pretty much loose everything."
"I mean, I want my children and my grand children to be safe ultimately," Miller said.
