LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Runners, walkers, and strollers came together on Saturday morning for the inaugural Pride Ride 5K in Lexington.
It was held at the club at Spindletop Hall.
The LGBTQ advisory committee in Fayette County Public Schools organized the event with Lexington Fairness.
Proceeds from the 5K will help LGBTQ students, families, and allies by providing much-needed resources.
“These kids are a special population and they are in such great risk for so many things just awful things they're increase for suicide, homelessness, substance abuse and our committee strives to provide education and the resources that all the schools need and the staff need to help the kids,” said Julia Bennington, Chair of the Fayette County Public Schools LGBTQ Advisory Committee.
Over 300 hundred runners and walkers took part in the 5K.
