JESSAMINE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Jessamine County deputy had an emotional last shift on Tuesday after deciding to retire.

Allen "Doodle" Peel started working at the sheriff's office in January of 1989 and has served as chief deputy since 2007.

In a Facebook video, Peel asked his fellow deputies to treat the taxpayers of Jessamine County with honor and respect and to remember their main goal is to go home to their families every night.

In the video, you can hear the following being said to Peel over the scanner: "You'll always be a part of this office, whether you're retired or not. So, job well done, my friend."

Peel responded with, "735 central... I'll be 10-7 for the last time."

In a separate post on Facebook from June, Peel said he was looking forward to the next chapter of his life and he will leave with many fond memories of his time at the sheriff's office.
