LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) — The Kentucky State Fair starts on Thursday and traffic and parking changes have been announced.
According to WAVE, police have said that traffic changes are made so that cars can flow easier through the venue. Police also said they want to stop potentially dangerous situations from happening.
"Backups on the expressway ramps, to where vehicles were stopped in the travel lanes of the interstate," Ron Fey, a Louisville Metro Police Department traffic officer, said, according to WAVE.
On Fridays starting at 4 p.m. and all day on Saturday and Sunday, drivers will only be able to access Gate 1 from the highway ramps. Preston Highway to Gate 1 will be closed, according to WAVE. Gate 1 to Crittenden Drive will only be accessible to local traffic in the area.
"I think it'll be OK. I don't think it'll bother anybody. It might make traffic flow a lot better," said Frank Tooley, the owner of Frank's, a butcher shop and food market on Preston Highway.
