LETCHER COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Knott County man was reportedly killed in an accident while cutting trees in Letcher County on Saturday morning.

Kentucky State Police troopers were called about a logging accident around 8:45a.m. off Loves Brand in the Deane community.

Troopers determined through their investigation that workers were cutting trees, when a tree that fell became lodged on top of another tree. KSP officials say that tree later fell to the ground, hitting a worker as it landed.

The victim has been identified as 25-year-old David Michael Thomas of Knott County. There were no reports of any other injuries.

An autopsy is scheduled to take place at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Frankfort. KSP continues to investigate the incident.
