LETCHER COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Kentucky State Police say that a child has died after an ATV crash on Sunday.
Troopers responded to the scene at a home on Laurel Lane in the Gordon community around 6:21 p.m. They were responding to a call requesting medical assistance for a 9-year-old girl who had been injured after crashing an ATV.
They say that the child was operating a Tao Tao Kids ATV in the driveway of her home when she lost control and hit a tree.
The child died at the scene. Kentucky State Police say there were no other occupants on the ATV.
An autopsy will be performed at the State Medical Examiner's Office.
