WILLIAMSTOWN, Ky. (LEX 18) — A landfill fire in Williamstown, Kentucky had crews on the scene fighting the fire for hours.
According to Grant County Emergency Management, the call came in around 6 a.m. on Sunday.
The director of emergency management said the fire was "impressive" at first, but they do not know how it started.
As of 8 a.m., the fire had been put out. Crews are staying on the scene for another hour or so.
The landfill will be closed throughout the weekend.
The cause of the fire is unknown, but is not considered suspicious.
