LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Fayette County Coroner's Office has identified the victim of the shooting near Fayette Mall that happened on Friday.

A report from the Fayette County Coroner's Office has named the victim of the shooting on Friday. The victim's name is LaPorscha Stringer, 30, of Nicholasville, Kentucky. Stringer was pronounced dead at the University of Kentucky Medical Center on August 25.

Lexington police said that they are investigating a shooting near the Fayette Mall that happened on Friday night around 8:30 p.m.

They reported that a woman, now known as Stringer, was shot Friday evening in a vehicle that was leaving Fayette Mall near Nicholasville Road and Wilson Downing.

Police said that witnesses on the scene gave them information about people they are now looking for.

According to police, witnesses said that the shooter and the victim knew each other. Police said they felt that it was targeted and the public should not worry about any danger.

Police were seen looking in a red vehicle near the mall entrance near Dillard's.

Authorities ask that anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 859-258-3600.
