LEXINGTON — The Fayette County Coroner has identified the person who killed in an early morning crash at the I-75/I-64 southern split.
Police received the call just after 8 a.m. Officials say that the vehicle hydroplaned in the heavy downpour and ran off the shoulder hitting a concrete support.
According to the coroner's office, Valeria Nelson, 50, was killed in the crash. Nelson was a passenger during the collision. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries.
Collision Reconstruction Units were on scene for several hours. The roadway has since reopened.
