LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington's American Cancer Society Hope Lodge received a special delivery on Sunday of food, games and other supplies.

The Convoy for Hope is a group from Somerset, led by breast cancer survivor Regina Swiney.

The donations will be used to help those who stay at the Hope Lodge while they receive cancer treatment.

Brooke Whitis is the community manager for the American Cancer Society in Pulaski and surrounding counties. She says the hope lodge makes a real difference with patients every day.
“For me it's the lightbulb moment. When we talk about research, it's hard to imagine research and understand it and the long process. hope lodge is right here right now and it's the hope we need,” said Whitis.

The group says they plan to organize another convoy for the Hope Lodge around Christmas time.
