LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - — A man who had previously been ruled incompetent to stand trial in a sex abuse case is now back in jail, accused of raping an 8-year-old girl.
The crime happened in Louisville's California neighborhood. According to WAVE 3 News, Cane Madden admitted to robbing the girl of her iPad and then hitting her with his fists and a shovel. Madden then told police he raped the child. He was picked up by police near the scene of the crime.
The incident isn't the first time Madden has been in trouble with the law. In 2017 he was charged after admitting to police that he committed a sexual crime and bit off part of a woman's face during the alleged attack.
In February, a Louisville judge ruled that Madden was incompetent to stand trial. Madden is currently charged with rape, assault and robbery. Today, a judge entered a not guilty plea on his behalf and set bond at $1 million.
