LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington police said a man was in custody after climbing a downtown crane early Monday morning.

Police and emergency crews responded before 7 a.m. to an area near Upper and Main streets where a man reportedly was climbing on a construction crane.

At about 6:50 a.m., the Lexington Traffic Management Center said East Main Street at North Limestone was closed.

The agency said the road closure was "due to a police incident near Upper Street."

Traffic was being diverted to North Limestone.

Police said the suspect was coaxed down and taken into custody.

Main Street since has reopened to traffic.
