SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Scott County coroner has identified the person killed in an early morning crash.

Coroner John Goble confirms that Ramos Martinez, 28, of Lexington, Ky. was killed after a multi-vehicle crash. Four vehicles -- including a semi -- crashed early Tuesday morning on Leestown Road in Scott County.

The crash was reported about 6 a.m. near Leestown, also known as U.S. Highway 421, and Browns Mill Road just north of the border with Fayette County.

Officials tell LEX 18 that one person had to be extricated from a vehicle and multiple people have been transported to area hospitals.

Officials said at least four vehicles were involved, including at a semi pulling a horse trailer.

Scott County Sheriff's officials said two men were in a Honda Civic traveling southbound into Lexington when the driver tried to pass a semi. One vehicle in the oncoming lanes swerved off the road, and the Honda slammed head-on into the next vehicle: a Ford SUV driven by a woman.

Martinez, was driving the Honda. Two others were taken to the University of Kentucky Medical Center with serious injuries.

The horse trailer did have animals inside, but officials said none of them was injured.

Lexington police were on the scene helping direct and divert traffic from the area. Leestown Road was closed for about six hours before being reopened.
