MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18/WPSD) — 38 of the 51 rescued chihuahuas have been adopted, as of Saturday, from the McCracken County Humane Society.

17 of the dogs were adopted last week alone.

In October, the chihuahuas were reportedly found in deplorable conditions in a McCracken County home, along with several dead dogs.

Harold Campbell and his daughter Jennifer were charged with 43 counts of second-degree animal cruelty.

Staff members at the McCracken County Humane Society say these dogs have a way of choosing their furever families.

One chihuahua went home on Sunday with a blanket and a warm hug from their new owner.
