LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Merrick Inn and Josie's restaurant in Lexington are offering customers the chance to give back, and get a deal on a meal.
"It's so important to give back locally, especially because like, if we don't love the people we see every day, then we're not gonna be able to love people globally either," said Susan Puckett of Josie's.
Through Saturday, two people can have supper at Josie's for $27. That includes two entrees and an appetizer and dessert to share. A similar deal is being offered at Merrick Inn for $54. Puckett said that two dollars from each entree goes to benefit the Lexington Rescue Mission.
Lexington Rescue Mission helps some of the community's most vulnerable, the homeless and hungry. The money will help Lexington Rescue Mission get through the summer and put food in bellies.
"While we're not a part of Restaurant Week, this is our version and the owners feel really passionately about giving back to the community," said Puckett.
The staff is hopeful that their efforts might inspire others to dine-out with intention.
The deals at both Josie's and Merrick Inn are good each day through Saturday after 4 p.m.
