LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Fayette County District Court Clerk's Office confirms with LEX 18 that Damien Crump, who was accused of shooting his dog twice in the head, has pled guilty to torture of a dog or cat first offense.

Crump has been sentenced to two years probation.

Neighbor Drew Cercone told LEX 18's Kylen Mills that he heard popping noises coming from next door, and that Crump and his wife came to his home and said they put down one of their dogs because he had "gone after" on of their children the day before.

The dog, Zora, survived the two gunshot wounds to the head. Animal Control officials say that Zora is doing great and is ready to be in a forever home.

"We’re disappointed, and seeking counsel for the endangerment and emotional stress this has caused our family," said Cercone in a statement he released to LEX 18's Kylen Mills.
