Man charged with burglary after elementary school break-in

PADUCAH, Ky. (LEX 18) — Deputies in Western Kentucky have arrested a teen who broke into an elementary school to steal electronics.

Deputies said that a woman called 911 after seeing a broken window at Hendron Elementary in Paducah, Kentucky.

According to deputies, they saw a man run out of the back entrance to the school.

Jae'Don Blanchard, 19, was found running through yards of residents nearby and police took him into custody.

Deputies said Blanchard had tried to steal several electronic items worth over $1,000.

Blanchard allegedly broke two windows and damaged a desk and an outdoor storage box with children sports equipment as well.

Blanchard has been arrested and charged with third degree burglary.
