LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington police said a man suffered life threatening injuries and a driver may face charges after an auto-pedestrian crash.

Reportedly the call came in at 8:21p.m. on Saturday to New Circle Road at Bryan Station for a crash involving a pedestrian.

Police said a man was crossing the street from the outer loop to inner loop when he was hit by a car driving on the inner loop.

Officers told LEX 18 that the man suffered life-threatening injuries.

Investigators believe impairment may have been a factor in the crash. They said they are investigating and the driver could face charges.

Officers shut down the inner loop of New Circle Road.

Police said shortly after the first crash, an officer diverting traffic on New Circle at Limestone was hit by a car while inside of his cruiser.

Reportedly the driver of the car that hit the cruiser was taken to the hospital. The officer did not need to be transported.

That crash is under investigation.
