(LEX 18) — Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell tweeted that Kentucky's Kelly Knight Craft has been confirmed by the Senate as Ambassador to the United Nations.
Craft was President Donald Trump's nominee for the role.
"She has already made Kentucky and the nation proud through significant public service, including as an alternate delegate to the United Nations and most recently as Ambassador to Canada. In each of those cases this impressive nominee earned an unopposed confirmation. And in each case she repaid the Senate’s confidence by skillfully and effectively advocating for the interests of the United States on the international stage," said a statement from McConnell.
“This is great news both for Kentucky and our country as a whole,” Republican Party of Kentucky Chairman Mac Brown said. “Congratulations to Ambassador Craft – I know she will serve our country well as a forceful advocate for President Trump’s vision of a stronger America at the United Nations.”
