(LEX 18) — Meijer has announced a 15 percent discount on classroom essentials for teachers, making this Meijer's biggest back-to-school discount ever.
The teacher discount can be applied at all Meijer stores and extends all summer long. The discount ends on September 28.
"We recognize that teachers spend a lot of money out of their own pockets on school supplies, and we hope this offer will help," said Director of Back-to-School Merchandising for Meijer Brandon Pasch.
According to National Center of Education Statistics, around 94 percent of public school teachers have said that they spend their own money on notebooks, pens and other supplies with no reimbursement. Other experts have said that the average out-of-pocket expense for teachers is more than $500.
Items available for the discount range from notebooks to essentials like Crayola, Elmer's Glue, Sharpies and Post-It Notes. Also included in the discount are planners, journals, memo boards and backpacks like JanSport, Nike, Under Armour and Adidas.
Teachers will also be able to stack their mPerks Rewards with the discount and take advantage of the price drops included in Meijer's everyday back-to-school savings.
To get the discount, teachers will need to present a current school ID at their local Meijer Customer Service desk and they will receive a coupon. The coupon can only be used in-store and some restrictions do apply.
Teachers can take advantage of the coupon multiple times by getting a new coupon any time they return to Meijer through September 28.
"Everyone deserves to enjoy their summers to the fullest, so our 'all-summer-long' offer was designed to allow teachers to save whenever is most convenient, and as many times as they like," said Pasch.
