Metcalfe County deputies discover marijuana grow operation

METCALFE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Metcalfe County deputies uncovered a marijuana grow while trying to serve a warrant.

Reportedly on Saturday around 10:15p.m. deputies were working to locate a person on Society Hill Road.

The sheriff's office reports that deputies were unable to locate anyone at the home, but they did find evidence that a marijuana grow was taking place inside. Deputies were able to obtain and execute a search warrant.

Deputies found an indoor marijuana grow in the basement of the home, according to a Facebook post by the Metcalfe County Sheriff's Office. They also reportedly discovered several pounds of processed marijuana and additional items of drug paraphernalia and three firearms.

The property owners, Frank H. Ballard Jr. and Shaunda A. Ballard, were arrested and taken to the Barren County Jail.

They are both facing charges including trafficking marijuana, cultivating marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Shaunda Ballard was served with a bench warrant for Warren District Court as well.

The case remains under investigation.
