More sun, fewer storms Friday

Heading back to summer this weekend.

After days of cloudy skies, showers, and cool temperatures, the forecast is heading in a positive direction. The upper-level low that stalled over the region will finally start moving east. Starting tomorrow we'll welcome back a little more sunshine and milder temperatures. We'll call Friday a partly sunny day with highs in the mid 70s. Spotty thundershowers are still possible, especially through the afternoon on Friday. These storms could produce brief downpours and gusty winds.

A more summery pattern is taking shape just in time for the holiday weekend. A ridge of build across the Ohio Valley. Highs will return to the 80s, and remain there through at least the end of the next week. Like any typical summer day in the Bluegrass, we'll have to watch out for a few afternoon storms. Memorial Day looks to have the best storm chances, but the day won't be a washout.
