OLDHAM COUNTY, Ky. (WAVE 3) — Five years after the death of a Louisville area man, the investigation into his death remains unsolved.

Ryan Kinnion, 24, was found on the side of River Road in Crestwood in 2014. He died the next day, September 15, at the University of Louisville Hospital. The family said that the death certificate lists his cause of death as a closed head injury. Police ruled his death a homicide, but no one has ever been held responsible.

Osonna Shepard, Kinnion's mother, is still waiting for closure.

"He was 24, so he was a man, but he was my baby. My son was in the hospital 24 hours alone before they notified me," she told WAVE 3.

Shepard is still waiting for closure in her son's case. She said that every time she called the police department, they take her name and number. She says that no one ever calls though.

Shepard told WAVE 3 that she noticed major changes in two people who were with Ryan the night he was injured. A relative who Shepard said drastically changed his appearance, and another man who left his job, moved in immediately after her son died.

"The detective I was dealing with said they wanted him to turn it over to traffic, but he said he believed my son was murdered," she said.

As Shepard prepares once again for an annual vigil, Louisville Metro Police say that there have been no updates in the case.

Anyone with information is asked to call Louisville Metro Police.
