An arrest citation revealed that police have arrested 29-year-old Jonathan Streete, whom they named a suspect in the West Short Street shooting that happened on Aug. 29.
According to the Fayette County Detention Center website, Streete was booked on Sept. 18, and an arrest citation detailed that he was served a warrant for first-degree assault and four counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.
A complaint warrant for Steele details that police interviewed several witnesses at the scene who said a fight between several individuals broke out and resulted in three shots being fired by one person.
According to the warrant, police spoke with the victim, who stated that "his friend pointed at the suspect and implied to the victim that he was trying to cause problems."
The warrant goes on to state that the victim told police that Streete and his friend began to fight, and he tried to help. As a result, the victim told police that he and his friend fell to the ground and saw a firearm in Streete's waistband.
The victim, according to the warrant, told police that he fled towards the front door to leave, and that's when he heard multiple gunshots and was hit in his back.
According to the warrant, the victim states that Streete exited the business, stepped over him, and walked along Short Street towards the Pavilion area.
