FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18) A man remains on the run from law enforcement after authorities in multiple counties say that he burglarized several hotels in Kentucky in the recent weeks.

The Franklin County Sheriff had no trouble connecting the dots after a recent burglary.

"I looked on your all’s website and I saw the picture of the London robbery, so I zoomed in on it, and thought, that’s Shawn Ogden," said Sheriff Pat Melton.

Melton said he has known of Ogden for more than a decade.

"I had arrested him back in 2006 for the same type of crime,” said Melton.

Melton said that there are now 15 active warrants out on Ogden. Melton said that he usually distracts the clerk and then steals from the desk register. He is alleged to have done the same in Mt. Sterling at Corbin’s Quality Suites and at a Super 8 off Winchester Road in Lexington.

“Make sure that your employees, your hotel clerks, are aware that if this guy comes in and you get distracted, he’s gonna rob you," said Melton.

Melton said that Ogden has never been violent and has never attempted to disguise himself with a mask. He said that Ogden’s history of arrests started with an arrest by Melton, which is why Melton has a message for Ogden.

“Call me. Turn yourself in. I’ve helped you in the past, and I’ll make sure you get treated right,” said Melton.

Sheriff Melton said that he spoke with Ogden’s mother and she too is hoping Ogden is caught, as she is worried for his safety.
