FRANKFORT, KY (Lex 18 ) – A Franklin County family is mourning the loss of a son after he was shot and killed early Tuesday morning

Sitting on a park bench in Frankfort, Emily Bishop was still trembling from the news she received earlier in the day. Just a short drive away in Lexington, her 21-year-old brother Christian Cubert, was shot and killed.

"We don’t really know anything," Bishop said. "We don’t know why it happened, we just don’t know. I guess the wrong place at the wrong time."

Lexington Police said the shooting happened off Devonport Drive around six Tuesday morning. Cubert was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Bishop can’t believe she’ll never see her upbeat little brother again. She can only tell people about his smile or infectious sense of humor.

"There wasn’t really anything he couldn’t joke about," She said. "He could take the silliest stuff and turn it into something funny."

Bishop said her brother deserves a proper funeral, but she’s not sure her family can afford it. She said anything the community can chip in would be a huge help.

"Just to be able to give him something he deserves, it would mean a lot," Bishop said.

The family hopes to plan a funeral soon. They also hope someone will come forward and help police find who is responsible for killing Christian.

If you’d like to help the family, they ask you send any donations to Clark’s Sunset Memorial in Frankfort. They’ve also set up a gofundme page, which you can find here
