LEXINGTON, Ky (LEX 18)– 150 homes and businesses hoping to get things back to normal Thursday morning after plans were derailed Wednesday by a water main break.

The break happened around 5:30 last night on Rosemont Garden.

Kentucky American Water says people in this area might experience low water pressure throughout the day, but thankfully this is a stark improvement after many were on damage control for much of the night.

For more than an hour, water flowed into the parking lots of area businesses, and a neighborhood off Elam Park.

Crews shut everything off to fix the break, but customers were already under water and for a short time nearby businesses had no choice but to temporarily close.

But for people who’ve were living here four years ago are all too familiar with this situation.

They say this same thing happened before and now they hope this fix lasts.

"I obviously can’t serve if we can’t access the building. IU don’t want people to walk through this."

"I could see on the garage door about three inches… it just dawned on me… oh! my cabinets are out there. I’m just trying to make sure that they’re not soaking in the water and then get them in here where it’s dry."

Kentucky American Water got everything fixed around 10 p.m. Wednesday night.
